COVID-19 Update – March 13th, 2020

COVID-19 Update – March 13th, 2020

As with all schools, we continue to take Direction from both the Provincial Health Officer and the Ministry of Education as to how we can most effectively meet the challenges posed by the speak of COVID-19.

Based upon yesterday’s directives from the Provincial Health Officer with respect to out of country travel and social distancing we would like to advise the following:

  1. Parent/Teacher/Tutor Conferences:

Our teaching and tutoring staff is in today and ready to connect with you. We would encourage you to make that connection remotely if possible in order to minimize unnecessary social contact.

This remote connection could take place in one of three ways: through conference call, Facetime, Skype, or Google Hangouts. If you would  prefer to conduct your conference this way, please email your child’s teacher (elementary) or case manager (high school) to arrange contact. If you are unsure whom to contact please telephone the office and we will provide you with that information.

If this option doesn’t work for you, you are welcome to come to the school as planned. Please observe recommended protocols with respect to hand washing/sanitizing prior to your arrival and limited personal contact while here.

  1. Spring Break Travel

By now most of you will be aware of the government’s restriction on our of country travel, including to the United States. Should you choose to leave the country anyway, we will expect you to observe the mandatory 14 day self-isolation protocol as required by the Provincial Officer of Health prior to returning to school. We will be enforcing the same restrictions on our own faculty and staff.

  1. Potential School Closures

At present, we expect to be open for business on March 30th after we have engaged in our own deep cleaning of the school. Should an unexpected situation arise, or should the Ministry of Education decree the closure of all schools in the province or this region, we will be sharing our Collaborative Home/School Learning Plans with you which will be implemented in the case of any such closure.

I will be updating the situation with you in the second week of March Break. Please watch for my email at that time.

Please take care of yourself and your family as we all adjust to these new realities.

Best,

Jim
